Telephone Service - Troubleshooting Tips
When you call our Repair Service with a problem, if the source of the problem is found to be in our lines or switching equipment, we will take quick action to correct the problem and, of course, there will be no charge.

If the problem is found to be either with inside wiring or is the result of your equipment, a trouble call fee and labor and materials charges may apply.

Troubleshooting

These tests can help you determine why your phone isn't working:
  1. Check to see if all your telephones are hung up properly and plugged in.
  2. Disconnect all cordless telephones completely, leaving only corded telephones connected to jacks.
  3. When there is more than one outlet, check each jack with a working corded telephone by plugging into each jack. If you are able to obtain dial tone at any or all jacks, then the problem is isolated to either your equipment or inside wiring.
  4. At the test point of your house (see diagram below), within the network interface, you are able to plug into a telephone connection. At this point, it is considered the "demarcation" point, where our outside lines meet your inside wiring. If you receive dial tone at this point, the trouble is isolated to your inside wiring.
For Inside Wiring Problems
If the problem is in your jack or wiring that runs through your home or office, you have three options:
  1. You can contact Rainier Connect. A maintenance visit charge will be applicable, unless you subscribe to wireguard.
  2. You can hire an independent contractor to repair your jack or inside wiring.
  3. You can repair the problem yourself.

For Equipment Problems
Rainier Connect cannot repair most customer owned telephone equipment. For any problems with your equipment, please refer to your owner's manual that came with the equipment. Any equipment purchased through Rainier Connect is guaranteed only by manufacture warranty. Refer to the owner's manual and packaging for warranty information.
